Bloomsbury Art Markets – Protagonists, Networks, Provenances is now available online, a new digital resource devoted to the study of the art market. Directed by Johannes Nathan and developed with the contribution of an extensive international network of scholars and editors, the project represents the first peer-reviewed scholarly repertory entirely dedicated to galleries, auction houses, art fairs, dealers, and other key actors in the art system from 1900 to the present.
The platform gathers thousands of entries including historical data, biographical information, reconstructions of exhibition and commercial activities, as well as references to archives and bibliographies, offering a research tool designed for scholars, professionals, and students interested in art market history and provenance research. Organized into geographically and thematically structured sections curated by specialist editors, the database is intended to expand progressively, contributing to the development of art market studies and to a deeper understanding of the networks that have shaped the circulation and reception of artworks in the modern and contemporary era.
